We all are hurting after the horrible school shooting on Monday in Nashville.
First and foremost, my heart goes out to the victims’ families.
I can’t imagine their grief.
And there’s admiration for the heroic response by Metro police.
I was there all day on the scene to witness the emotion and terror of so many uncertain about whether loved ones lived or died.
This has broken my heart.
I’ve covered some many horrible stories involving loss of life.
But, none have hit quite me like this one.
And, I know I’m not alone.
Our entire Newschannel5 team here feels it.
That said, our Leadership Team today arranged for a visit by Cooper — a certified therapy dog.
He just came into the newsroom … and I didn’t know what to think.
But, the moment Cooper came over … put his paws on my knees … and looked me in the eyes?
Well, I teared up and then found myself smiling a bit for the first time in more than 24 hours.
