Another week and another dog on dog attack. Sadly in the eyes of the law this is seen as nothing. But it isn’t nothing. It can be devastating. For too long on social media I have been reading about dog on dog attacks in our town. It can’t be brushed off any longer. Our dogs are not just someone’s pet, they are somebody’s world. The old lady at the end of your street should be able to take her cockerpoo dog out without fear it could be killed by a bigger dog whose owner does not care. The boy with autism who has a therapy dog should be able to take his Yorkshire terrier dog out without fear it will be attacked and even if it survives he will be left with a massive vet bill. The blind person who navigates the obstacles of life they face every day should not have another obstacle thrown at them, the worry that their service dog could be attacked. This isn’t just happening around Congleton, its happening all around the country. That’s why it is time to take take a stand. I am making a stand. I intend to lobby our new prime minister to change the law on dog on dog attacks. If irresponsible owners won’t act responsible we must make them responsible. We have heard so much from this new government about how they want to change things for the better; which is always followed by they don’t have the money. They don’t need the money for this. This change will cost them nothing and will hopefully make irresponsible dog owners think before allowing their dogs to freely attack other dogs. It was absolutely shocking to find out one of my mum’s friends dog was attacked a few weeks ago and was unfortunately killed. I’m currently arranging a meeting on Monday with Ella Victoria Brough whose dog has also been attacked recently. Ella thought it would be good to invite anyone else whose dogs have also been attacked or anyone who has been distressed by these attacks to come along and talk. Please message me on 07597085396 so I can let you know the time and venue for Monday. The reason I am asking for you to message me is so that I can judge what venue size we will need to book. My dog Betsie is my best friend, extremely loyal, sits by my side when I’m sick or distressed I would be heartbroken if something like this happened to her. We need to get the ball rolling on making our towns and villages safer to walk our dogs.Come along on Monday for an open chat, our loyal companions need more protection from attacks such as these.
