For some animals, people may give up on them entirely, but it takes someone special to succeed where others have failed.Often, improving an animal’s life and making a real difference just requires a bit of patience and affection.
A well-known true story of the loving bond between a man and his horse shows just how powerful this can be.

Janna Grapperhaus, a midwife from West Virginia, shared the story of how her father brought home a young, aggressive horse named Major.
Major’s previous owners had tried everything to tame him, even beating him and tying him to a post for four weeks without food or water. Despite their efforts, Major remained wild.
Janna recalled that when her father first brought Major home, the horse quickly broke through five strands of fence and would bite or strike anyone nearby.
Instead of trying to force Major into submission, Janna’s father chose to earn his trust. Although some were skeptical, with Janna’s mother even calling the horse “Major Deal” because she thought he might be dangerous, Janna’s father was dedicated. “Dad never broke him… he earned his heart,” Janna said, highlighting her father’s commitment. “He worked tirelessly every day to gain the trust of that mistreated horse.”
