I lost my best friend this past Friday, and maintaining my composure is proving to be an enormous challenge.
As I take my other dogs outside, I keep glancing back, hoping to see him behind me. The heart-wrenching truth is that he’s not there anymore, and it’s so hard to wrap my mind around that. Baxter, you will always have my love. I hope I was the owner you deserved, and I truly did my best for you. It isn’t fair that I didn’t get a chance to spend one last day with you. My heart is in pieces.
I believe we will meet again one day, but I can’t shake the longing for just one more time to hear your howl, your bark, and to watch you prance in from the yard, full of life. All I have now are cherished memories, and I miss you terribly. So very much!
