Meet Nick Fury, a dog with a big heart who’s overcome some serious hardships. Last year when he was just a puppy, he was attacked by another dog and his eye was severely damaged. He was rushed to Pet Vet Emergency where vets determined his eye couldn’t be saved.

Unfortunately, his owners couldn’t afford the treatment so they made the difficult decision to surrender him to RSPCA WA. Under our care, Nick Fury received all the medical treatment he needed, including having his injured eye removed.

Following his surgery, Nick was placed into foster care with one of our dedicated shelter staff, Sophie. She provided him a quiet, comfortable, and warm space to heal. “It only took about 30 seconds of having him in our home to know we wanted him to stay forever.”

After falling in love with his gorgeous puppy face and sweet, curious personality, she made the life-changing decision to adopt. “Nick now has two older brothers, a 13-year-old Dalmatian named Turtle and a 13-year-old Labrador cross named Chip, and one younger brother. His little brother – and partner in crime – is Raiden, our one-year-old Staghound cross.”

International Dog Day is more than just a photo of your beloved pooch on your timeline. It’s a celebration of your best friend, and a reminder that less fortunate dogs, both great and small, deserve a better life: a life of joy, love, protection, care, and respect. Nick Fury is incredibly lucky – we hope many more dogs waiting in shelter homes get the loving family they deserve.
