The beautiful stone slabs of the original Roman road which lay a meter and a half under the asphalt were brought to light in Verona, a few years ago. On them you could still see the ruts in which the wheels of Roman chariots and carts flowed.
Ancient Via Postumia was covered by modern Corso Cavour and led to Porta Borsari that you can see in background.
